Based on recent events and the needs of many others compared to the luxuries I enjoy, I have decided to donate all proceeds from AliciaMae and EclecticWood on Artfire to charitable causes. It started with Haiti and will proceed through the list below on the indicated dates, where I will keep totals rolling. Due to my low sales volume, I will round up to no less than $5 for each charity.
Current:
January 1, 2011 - February 28, 2011: Discovery Global Education Partnership (discoveryglobaled)
Upcoming:
TBD
Previous:
Jan 15-Feb 14 2010: Doctors Without Borders (Haiti earthquake)
Feb 27-May 9 2010: Red Cross International Response Fund = $3.46
May 10-Sept 8, 2010 (extended): National Association of Free Clinics
September 9 - October 31, 2010 The Association of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA
November 1 - December 31, 2010: Feeding America (formerly SecondHarvest)
The way the donations work:
The shipping cost of the item covers the actual shipping cost of the item. 100% of the price of the item purchased will be considered the donation. Exceptions are if the shipping cost is higher than the shipping charged, then the difference will be taken from the item cost and the remainder donated. Also, if shipping is overcharged, I usually refund the difference to the buyer, but for the duration of the donation time I will add it into the donation. So donations will be figured one of three ways depending on the circumstances: 100% item price, 100% item price plus leftover shipping charges, or almost all the item price after needing a bit to cover excess shipping charges.
Many charities do not take Paypal for donations. Because of this, I will be consolidating all received funds into my account and then making a donation of the accumulated amount with my credit card. Because of this, I will likely not be able to provide proof of the donation.
